Connect an Ajax Hub to evalink talos

Connecting an Ajax hub to evalink talos requires an Ajax Pro account with administrator access to the hub, and a Company account in evalink talos with permission to create integrations and manage sites.

The connection consists of four steps:

  1. Create a virtual DC-09 receiver of type Ajax on the target site in evalink talos
  2. Configure evalink talos as a monitoring station in the Ajax hub, using the credentials from the virtual receiver
  3. Invite an Ajax Pro user dedicated to hub management
  4. Configure that user in the DC-09 integration in evalink talos

Enable the DC-09 Integration

To enable the integration, go to Company > Integrations and turn on the DC-09 Integration.

The Integrations page with the DC-09 Integration turned on

Create a Virtual DC-09 Receiver

To create a virtual receiver:

  1. Go to the site you want to connect the hub to, and click the Receiver tab

The Receiver tab on a site

  2. Add a new receiver

If the site has no receivers yet, click Add Receiver:

The Receiver tab with no receivers yet, showing the Add Receiver button

If the site already has receivers, click the plus icon in the upper-right corner of the tab instead:

The Receiver tab with existing receivers, showing the plus icon

  3. Select a monitoring interval:

    • DP (Dual Path) connects the hub through both the Ethernet and mobile communication channels
    • SP (Single Path) connects the hub through one communication channel only
  4. Set the device type to Ajax

  5. Enter the Ajax hub ID

Find the hub ID in the Ajax Pro app.

The virtual receiver now lists the connection details for the Ajax hub: the DC09 account, the primary and secondary IP addresses and ports, and the encryption key.

The figure below shows a virtual receiver with an error stating that evalink talos cannot get information about the hub. This error is expected at this stage. It clears after you configure a user for the hub (see section Invite a User for the Ajax Hub).

Before you begin, disarm the Ajax hub in the Ajax Pro app.

To configure the monitoring station:

  1. In the Ajax Pro app, go to Settings > Monitoring Station

  2. Copy the following values from the virtual receiver in evalink talos to the matching fields in the Ajax Pro app:

    • DC09 account to Object Number
    • Public IP1 to Primary IP Address
    • Public IP2 to Secondary IP Address
    • Port Ethernet to both Port Primary IP Address and Port Secondary IP Address
    • Encryption Key to Encryption Key

The Ajax hub is now connected to evalink talos. One step remains: inviting a user for evalink talos to manage the hub.

Invite a User for the Ajax Hub

evalink talos needs a dedicated Ajax Pro user to manage the hub. Do not use a personal Ajax Pro account for this, because evalink talos and a person cannot manage the same hub through the same user account at the same time.

To invite a user:

  1. In the Ajax Pro app, go to Settings > Users, and invite a new or existing user

Do not invite a user who also uses the Ajax Pro app.

  1. In evalink talos, go to Company > Integrations, find the Virtual DC-09 Receiver integration, and click Edit Integration

  1. Enter the username and password of the user you invited, and click Submit

The setup is complete. The Receiver tab on the site now shows the connected hub, and the error from the previous step clears.

With the hub connected, evalink talos can:

  • Receive pictures from the Ajax MotionCam directly in evalink talos
  • Arm and disarm the Ajax hub from evalink talos
  • Toggle Ajax hub outputs, including the Ajax Relay, Ajax WallSwitch, and Ajax Socket
