Site Groups Overview

Site Groups Basics

A Site Group is a structural unit within evalink talos that unites smaller units or entities that share a certain set of qualities. There are three types of Site Groups in evalink talos:

  • Regular Site Group

A number of sites that share a geographical location, the same operation type or other quality. In a list of your Site Groups, Regular Site Groups are marked with the bubble_chart icon.

  • Service Company

An placeholder entity that has a configured set of contacts, schedules, workflows, that can be used in a bundle for sites or other Site Groups. In a list of your Site Groups, Service Companies are marked with the build icon.

  • Organizational Unit

An entity that can unite several other Site Groups and / or organizational units. It helps to create a tree-like structure for the units within your tenant. In a list of your Site Groups, Organizational Units are marked with the layers icon.

A list of Site Groups

Site groups can be used as tools to make the structure and all the workflow-related processes in your tenant more scalable and streamlined. You can use the site-group level to perform similar actions for an array of sites on your tenant without having to set them up individually for each particular site.

Creating a level structure using several types of Site Groups allows to handle alarms coming into a large quantity of sites in a centralized and uniform way.

Only Company Admins and Managers can create and configure Site Groups of all types. Operators can view Site Groups, lists of nested elements within, and site group settings.

Company Admins can limit particular User Types to access particular Site Groups, Organizational Units or Service Companies.

For details about how to configure access permissions for User Types, see section Manage User Settings > Create a New User Type.

info

When you have workflows of different levels in your company, the order of workflow priority is the following:

  • Site level workflows
  • Site Group level workflows
  • Organizational Unit level workflows
  • Service Company level workflows
  • Global workflows

Working with Regular Site Groups

Regular Site Groups are structural units that allow you to unite a number of sites in evalink talos. For each Site Group, you can create group and managed workflows, group contacts and group schedules. When used, they apply to all sites included in the group, unless overridden by site-level settings.

There is no limit as to the number of sites that can be added to a single Site Group.

The figure below shows an Overview page for a regular Site Group:

A Regular Site Group

The Regular Site Group View includes:

  • The tree hierarchy and a position of where this site is nested (if it belongs to an Organizational Unit)
  • Navigation between Overview, Event Logs, Events, Managed Workflows, Group Workflows, Group Contacts, and Group Schedules tabs
  • Settings, Statuses, Share, Mail PDFs, Export PDFs menu controls
  • Dashboard with the graphical display of recent activity across the Site Group
  • List of all sites, included in the Site Group, with site management controls
  • Attached files, which are available for all sites in the Site Group

The figure below shows a regular Site Group with a list of included sites:

On the Site Group level, you can perform almost the same actions that you can do with a particular site. These procedures are identical with the similar procedures for individual sites:

  • Manage Group Workflows. For more details on managing workflows, see section Site, Site Group and Global Workflows
  • Work with Group Contacts, Contact Lists and Dynamic Contacts. For more details on Contacts, see section Contacts Overview
  • Manage Event Logs and a list of Events. For more details on Eveng logging and reports, see section Reports Overview
  • Work with Group Schedules. For more details on working with Schedules, see section Schedules Overview.
  • Export and email PDF reports
  • Create a sharable link to the Site Group Shareable Site Links

Working with Organizational Units

The main purpose of Organizational Units is to allow evalink talos users to create tree-like hierarchy structures of entities within their tenant for easier and more systemic management.

Vertically, the maximum level count of how many Organizational Units you can nest into one another is 4. When there's a tree structure of four organizational units, you can only nest Regular Site Groups into level 4 Organizational Unit:

Organizational Unit Tree Structure

If a site, a Site Group or an Organization Unit is a part of a higher-level Organizational Unit, evalink talos always shows the tree hierarchy path in the entity overview.

Horizontally, there is no limit as to how many regular Site Groups or Organizational Units you can add to a single Organizational Unit.

info

If you add a regular Site Group to an Organizational Unit, you cannot add it to any other Organizational Units.

The figure below shows an overview page of an Organizational Unit:

Organizational Unit Overview

The Organizational Unit Overview Screen includes:

  • The tree hierarchy and a position of where this Organizational Unit is nested
  • Navigation between Overview, Events, Event Logs, Managed Workflows, Group Workflows, Group Contacts, and Group Schedules tabs
  • Settings menu control
  • A list of nested elements
info

In the list of nested elements, evalink talos does not denote whether an element is a regular Site Group or an Organizational Unit.

You can use Unit Filter to display either or both types of elements.

On the level of Organizational Units, you can perform some of the actions that are available for regular Site Groups:

  • Manage Group Workflows. For more details on managing workflows, see section Site, Site Group and Global Workflows
  • Work with Group Contacts, Contact Lists and Dynamic Contacts. For more details on Contacts, see section Contacts Overview
  • Manage Event Logs and a list of Events. For more details on Eveng logging and reports, see section Reports Overview
  • Work with Group Schedules. For more details on working with Schedules, see section Schedules Overview.
  • Export and email PDF reports
  • Create a sharable link to the Site Group Shareable Site Links

When these settings are applied, evalink talos uses them across all elements inside the organizational unit, unless overridden by settings of lower levels, such as Site Group or individual site settings.

info

Exporting reports, working with Events and Event logs, creating shareable links is currently not supported for an Organizational Unit. This can only be done on the regular Site Group and site levels.

Working with Service Companies

Service Companies are a placeholder for a collection of Contacts, Schedules and Workflows for particular organizations outside of evalink talos. These could be police or fire departments, various utility service providers, such as plumbing, electricity or telecom service companies.

In an evalink talos Service Company, you can collect all the contact and schedule information related to such an entity and create designated workflows for handling alarms that require dealing with such an entity. You can assign such Service Company to any of your sites on evalink talos. This helps to handle alarms that require interactions with utility service providers in a much more uniform and efficient way.

You can create multiple Service Companies and assign them to multiple sites. You can also assign several Service Companies to the same site.

You can create Service Company types for easier navigation and management of multiple Service Companies. For more details, see section Configure Service Company Type.

The figure below shows an overview page of a Service Company:

Service Company Overview

The Service Company Overiew screen includes:

  • Navigation between Managed Workflows, Group Workflows, Group Contacts, and Group Schedules tabs
  • Settings menu control
  • A list of linked sites with a Search bar
info

A Service Company can't be a child of an Organizational Unit.

A Service Company can't be linked to a regular Site Group or to an Organizational Unit, only to a site.

Only Company Admins and Managers can create Service Companies and assign them to sites.

On the level of Service Companies, you can perform some of the actions that are available for regular Site Groups:

  • Manage Workflows for a Service Company
  • Manage Contacts for a Service Company
  • Manage Schedules for a Service Company

You can assign one or multiple Service Companies, including Service Companies of the same type, to a site in the Sites > [Site] > Settings tab of a particular site. For more details, see section Work with Sites > Assign a Service Company to a Site.
