Generic Receiver Configuration for a Site

Configure Generic Receiver for a Site

You can configure one or several instances of Generic Receiver for any site within your company. For every instance of the Generic Receiver that you configure for a site, you can select one connector from the list that a Company Admin configures on a company level.

Each receiver instance is configured separately.

To configure a Generic Receiver for a site:

  1. Go to Sites > [site] > Receivers > tab

  2. On the Receivers tab, click on the Add a Virtual Receiver button and select Generic Receiver from the list

    Generic Receiver configuration dialog opens.

    Generic Receiver Site Configuration

  3. In the Account field, specify the receiver account

  4. (Optional) Check the Duplicate to Unknown Alarms checkbox to duplicate the incoming with the Unknown status to the default Unknown Alarms site

    info

If an alarm arrives that evalink talos does not recognize, by default it sends the alarm to a specific Unknown Alarms Site

evalink talos creates The Unknown Alarms site automatically as soon as the first Unknown alarm arrives.

In the global settings for the Generic Receiver, Company Admin can specify another site for Unknown alarms to override the default settings.

If the checkbox is checked, evalink talos duplicates alarms with Alarm.evalinkDeviceId = UNKN-{account} to the Unknown Alarms site and keeps them at the site specified in global settings for the Generic Receiver.

  5. In the Alarm Definition field, select the Alarm Definition you want evalink talos to use for this instance of Generic Receiver

    info

For more information about working with alarm definitions, see section Work with Alarm Definitions.

  6. (Optional) Check the Global connectors checkbox if you want to use only global connectors.

    info

The list of global connectors is available only if a Company Admin has configured global connectors on the company level.

Use this option if you need to receive alarms from multiple connectors to a single instance of Generic Receiver.

In this case, the instance of Generic Receiver looks up for alarms with a matching account ID from all the connectors marked as 'Global'.

In a case when you have two devices with the same Account ID that are using two different connectors, it's best practices to bind each connector to its own Generic Receiver instance to differentiate between devices.

  7. In the Connectors field, select the Connector you want to use for this instance of Generic Receiver from the dropdown list

  8. (Optional) Populate the Info field with data about the connecting receiver. You can specify the following information:

    • Virtual Device Type

    • Device Name

    • Hardware Type

    • Firmware

    • Manufacturer

    • SIP Username

  9. Click Submit
